Dear Tobey Elementary School Families,

Welcome to Tobey Elementary School, where every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. As the proud Principal of this family-oriented institution, I am delighted to extend my warmest greetings to you all.

At Tobey Elementary, our community thrives with nearly 400 students who are at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated teachers work tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where learning goes hand in hand with personal growth. We believe in the power of education not only to impart knowledge but also to foster essential character traits and social-emotional skills.

I am honored to share that our commitment to excellence has been recognized through various accolades. Humbly, I was named the Southwest Michigan Catalyst Principal of the Year, a testament to the unwavering dedication of our entire team. Moreover, Tobey Elementary has been awarded Honorable Mention as a National School of Character, highlighting our emphasis on instilling virtues that extend far beyond the classroom.

Central to our ethos is the Tobey Way – a set of principles that guide our interactions and behaviors every day. We believe in treating others with respect, offering a helping hand, being responsible, expecting excellence, and fostering a perpetual yearning for learning. These values are not just words on paper; they are embedded in the fabric of our school culture.

Our Character Council, composed of students, actively participates in shaping our character events, demonstrating our belief in student leadership and empowerment. Furthermore, our Professional Learning Community (PLC) ensures that our teachers are continuously growing and refining their practices to better serve our students.

I am immensely proud of our supportive Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), whose dedication enriches each child's educational journey. Together, we have cultivated an environment where every child can flourish, leading Tobey Elementary to be recognized as the "Best Elementary School" by US News and World Report.

Academically, Tobey consistently excels, as evidenced by our high scores on standardized tests such as the MSTEP. However, our vision extends beyond test scores. We are committed to preparing every student to graduate college and career-ready, equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
